
Stainton Announces 2017 Recruiting Class

South Orange, N.J. – Seton Hall women's soccer head coach Rick Stainton has announced the 2017 recruiting class that includes 10 future Pirates who submitted their national letter of intent on National Signing Day last Wednesday.
This year's signees are from six different states and two countries: New Jersey (2), Connecticut (2), Ontario, Canada (2), Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware and Oregon.
Dani Brinckman | Back/Midfielder | Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury
Named 2016 NSCAA All-American and 2016 Connecticut State High School Player of the Year…The No. 1 rated high school prospect in Connecticut, No. 23 nation wide…2016 Connecticut Junior Soccer Association Player of the Year…NSCAA All-New England Region selection in 2015 and 2016…A two-time Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference All-State and All-Central Connecticut Conference honoree…Won three consecutive state championships (2014-16) including a state-record 60 consecutive wins…Team ranked second in the nation by the NSCAA…Was part of a defensive backfield that allowed just 26 goals over three years while the team's offense produced 299 goals…Totaled 26 career goals and 32 assists while a member of the backfield…Participated in the 2016 Girl's High School All-American game in North Carolina…A member of the Oakwood Soccer Club…Also a highly-decorated sprinter and hurdler…Was 2016 state champion in the 300-meter hurdles and 4x400 relay in 2016…Earned multiple All-Region and All-Conference accolades and holds five school records in track.
Coach Stainton on Brinckman: "Dani is a highly-decorated and extremely technical, versatile, and intelligent player. She is talented on both sides (attacking and defending) of the ball. Her athleticism and strength are tremendous attributes, but it is her competitiveness and "will" that sets her apart. She will be an impactful player for us, and opponents will take note and have to adapt."
Dani Camilleri | Midfielder | Mississauga, Ontario/Philip Pocock Catholic
Has been training at the Canadian national level since 2014 and provincial level since 2012…Won a CONCACAF Gold Medal at the 2014 U15 Championship…Played on the 2014 U15 Ontario Provincial Team and as part of the 18-player roster that defeated Quebec in the Quebec-Ontario Series…Was a two-time team captain at Philip Pocock…Played four seasons at midfield…A three-time Honor Roll selection…Played club ball for G.S. United.
Coach Stainton on Camilleri: "Danielle is very mobile, technical and savvy. She is deceptive with the ability to beat you on the dribble or pass. She combines and links up the lines up very well. As a youth international for Canada, Danielle has experience at high levels, which will contribute greatly to our program. Her vision and ability to break lines and spring attackers in with passes will certainly provide us with some great scoring opportunities."
Emily Caza | Back | Thornhill, Ontario/St. Elizabeth Catholic
Has played for the Jamaican National Team since 2014…Represented the U15 Jamaican team at the CONCACAF Games and named Player of the Match vs. Costa Rica and a captain vs. Belize…A co-captain of the U17 Jamaican National Team and current member of the U20 team…A four-year high school starter, she was named team captain of her high school team in 2016.
Coach Stainton on Caza: "Emily is a methodical defender who is very good at reading the game and the cues it presents. Her international experience with Jamaica, where she has competed against some of the top youth strikers in the world, has prepared her for the battles she will encounter in the BIG EAST. In possession, Emily has very good feet which will allow us to further develop in building up our possession out of the back."
Izzy Engel | Midfielder | Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area
Compiled 33 career goals and 33 assists at Moon Area High School…A member of 2016 State Champion 30-0-1 team that reached No. 10 in the national rankings…Earned All-WPIAL and All-Section honors and was a six-time Scholar-Athlete (four soccer, two basketball)…Named a team captain as a senior…Earned two regional championships with the Beadling Soccer Club.
Coach Stainton on Engel: "Izzy is a competitor with tremendous grit. She is a ball winner who is deceptively tough in the tackle and battles in the air. In possession, she is very capable of staying composed and maintaining possession for us. A big part of a successful club team, she know how to compete and find success."
Atley Fortney | Forward/Midfielder | Charles Town, W.Va./Washington
A three-time All-State selection that also received an honorable mention nod as a freshman…Named West Virginia Midfielder of the Year as a senior…Named AARP WV Metro News Scholar Athlete of the Week in September of her senior season…A four-time MaxPreps Player of the Week…A three-time team captain…Holds high school records for most goals in a game (eight), goals in a single season (40) and career goals (88)…Finished with 241 career points…Was a four-time sectional champion, three-time regional champion, and two-time state runner-up…Participated in the North/South All-State Game…Played club ball for Epic Blizzard and Loudoun '98 Red.
Coach Stainton on Fortney: "Atley is a forward who has found tremendous success at the high school and club levels. She is no stranger to finding goal and finishing. She enjoys 1v1 situations and has the ability to beat you inside, outside or endline. Her experience at the No. 7, 9 and 11 postitions will provide us with further opportunities to interchange forwards in the flow of the game"
Cassy Harrigan | Back/Midfielder | Beaverton, Ore./Beaverton
Earned All-State honors as a senior and is a three-time All-Metro and All-Academic selection…Started every game throughout her four years in high school and racked up 20 goals and over 30 assists…Reached the state quarterfinals as a senior…Played club soccer for Crossfire United in Tualatin, Oregon.
Coach Stainton on Harrigan: "Cassy is a specimen. What I mean by that is she has size, strength, speed, ability and presence. She has the ability to play multiple roles on all the lines. She is a presence on the ground and in the air. As a defender, she is great at closing down space and winning tackles. In the attack, she is good on the dribble and a threat in the air."
Alyssa Reszkowski | Forward/Midfielder | Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township
Was named team captain as a senior and totaled seven goals and 10 assists…Team went 52-11-7 during her career including a Group IV State Championship and No. 4 state ranking in her junior season…As a senior, Freehold Township was Central Jersey Group IV runner-up and No. 9 in the state…Played club soccer for PDA Blues.
Coach Stainton on Reszkowski: "Alyssa is an attacking presence that will catch opponents by surprise. She is a penetrator who drives toward goal with the ability to get behind defenders and set teammates up in dangerous areas. Alyssa is very keen on finding space and getting herself into scoring positions. When around goal, she makes the sacrifice demanded to score."
Emilia Ryjewski | Midfielder/Forward | Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy
A First Team All-State selection as a junior…Earned All-State recognition as a junior and is a three-time All-Conference honoree…Has won three consecutive state championships and finished 2016 as the No. 2 high school team in the nation…Team is 43-1-2 through her first three seasons…Totaled 13 goals and five assists in the team's 15-0 season as a junior this past fall…Is a member of the Delaware Rush '98 club team.
Coach Stainton on Ryjewski: "Emilia is a sure footed, intelligent and mobile center midfielder who is very good in combination. Always seeking out pockets between the lines, she poses a threat to unbalance defensive blocks for us."
Alyssa Santos | Midfielder/Back | Lodi, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy
Member of an extremely successful Immaculate Heart program that went 23-0 en route to a Bergen County title in 2014…They finished No. 1 in New Jersey and snapped Northern Highlands' state-record 88 game winning streak…Scored 10 goals and 30 assists at center and outside midfield…Enrolled in multiple honors and AP courses and a member of the Spanish and National Honor Society.
Coach Stainton on Santos: "Alyssa is very quick and athletic. She changes direction with and without the ball very well. She is feisty when defending and dynamic while attacking. She will contribute greatly on the flank positions for us."
Bianca Tata | Forward | Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield
A four-year soccer and track standout at Wethersfield…Recorded 36 career goals and 40 assists…Team reached the playoffs all four years including the state playoffs senior season…Holds two sprint medley school records in track…Was a senior soccer captain and named All-Conference…A three-time track captain and three-time All-Conference selection.
Coach Stainton on Tata: "Bianca is a quick, powerful attacking personality who has the ability to beat you 1v1 and get behind defenders. A threat near goal, she can either contribute with a goal or assist. She also exhibits versatility with experience as an outside back. This provides us with the ability to use her in multiple roles."
