Pirates Drop Sunday Matinee To No. 23 DePaul

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team (8-7, 1-3 BIG EAST) dropped an 96-65 decision to league-leading DePaul (13-4, 5-0 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon at Walsh Gym. JaQuan Jackson (Killeen, Texas) led the Pirates with 14 points, while LaTecia Smith (Gardena, Calif.) added 13 off the bench in the setback.
The Pirates fell behind by double-digits after a quarter and never led, with the No. 23 Blue Demons knocking down 16 3-pointers and shooting 48.6 percent from the field in the win. Tanita Allen led DPU with 30 points and Jacqui Grant notched a 23-point, 10-rebound double-double.
Turning Points
DePaul came out of the gates fast, scoring the first eight points of the game en route to a 33-18 edge after one quarter. The Blue Demons knocked down seven 3-pointers in the opening frame and scored 16 points off eight Seton Hall turnovers to build the early double-digit advantage.
The hot shooting for the Blue Demons continued in the second quarter, as DPU finished the first half with a 12-for-21 mark from 3-point range to take a 60-35 lead into the break. DePaul never trailed by less than 20 in the second half

- The Blue Demons shot 48.6 percent from the floor and 43.2 percent from 3-point range, compared to 41.0 and 31.6 percent marks for The Hall
- DePaul won the rebounding battle 47-31 and held the forced turnover edge, 23-17
