South Orange, N.J. – Frankie Scrivanic drove in three runs on the afternoon, but Seton Hall fell in game two of its weekend series against Hofstra on Saturday afternoon, 16-8.
How it Happened
The Pride had a strong start, scoring three runs in the top of the first to take an early lead. The Pirates would respond in the bottom of the second with three of their own to tie things up. The first tally came courtesy of Scrivanic, who laced a double to left center which allowed Nick Tomasetto to score. Aiden Dill then brought home the second run of the inning on a sacrifice fly, followed by an RBI single from Gabe Cavazzoni to level things up at 3-3.
The score would remain tied until the fifth, when two Hofstra runs gave the visitors a 5-3 edge. Seton Hall would get one run back in the bottom half, when Ty Acker drove one home on a sac fly to center. The Pirates would continue to threaten in the frame by getting two runners into scoring position, however the Hofstra bullpen was able to avoide any further damage.
The Pride began to pull away late, scoring four times in the sixth and seven in the seventh to take a healthy advantage. The Hall would score three times in the seventh to respond via a bases loaded walk from Tomasetto, a sac fly from Scrivanic and a wild pitch which allowed Acker to score. Scrivanic would add another RBI to his line in the ninth on an RBI single, but Hofstra's offense proved to be too much in the end.
