Jay Blackwell is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Seton Hall University baseball team. He brings more than 15 years of collegiate coaching experience and joins the Pirate after spending last year as an assistant baseball coach at Kean University, where he worked primarily with the Cougar's offensive program.

Blackwell received his first head coaching experience at Bloomfield College, where he was the head coach for the 1999 and 2000 seasons.

Prior to his time at Bloomfield, Blackwell served one season as an assistant coach at Rutgers University, where he returned in 2001 to begin a 10-year stint as an assistant for the Scarlet Knights.

Blackwell also spent time as an assistant and head coach in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League. He was an assistant coach for the New Jersey Pilots in 1996, and was the Pilots' head coach in 1997 and 1999. Blackwell also spent one season as the head coach for the Freehold Clippers in 2007.

Blackwell currently resides in Leonardo, N.J., with his wife Katie.
