Allan Small returned to Seton Hall in the fall of 2011 for his first season as an assistant for head coach Clay White.  

Small previously served as the program's head coach for four years (1992-1996), immediately followed by a two-year stint as an assistant for head coach Richard Distlerath.  Small enjoyed a tremendously successful tenure in his first tour of duty with the Pirates, capturing the program's first BIG EAST Championship in 1992 as well as earning Eastern Collegiate Golf Association District II Coach of the Year honors following the 1992-93 year.

A former president of the Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA), Small boasts extensive experience on the local golf scene.  Most recently, he won his third New Jersey Senior Amateur title in four years (2008, 2009, 2011) at Bedens Brook Club in Skillman, N.J. The victory was followed by an appearance in the U.S. Senior Open on the Champions Tour.  Small is no stranger to success on the course.  His record also includes wins at the 2004 New Jersey Amateur and the 2009 MGA Senior Amateur.  In all, Small has competed in 19 USGA championships.

Small has also represented the State of New Jersey in a number of tournaments including his participation in three USGA State Team championships.  In local competition, Small has played in 24 Compher Cups, a battle between the best golfers from the New Jersey State Golf Association and the Golf Association of Philadelphia, as well as 25 Stoddard Trophy tournaments.

A resident of Florham Park, N.J., Small has been the Fairmont Club champion eight times.  Following his time at Livingston High School, during which he served as team captain and won the Jersey Hills Conference champion as a senior, Small went on to a standout career at Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C.
