KOLACKOVSKY AND EHRET REPRESENT SHU AT LCM INVITATIONAL
Sophomores Kerrie Kolackovsky and Jane Ehret will represent the Seton Hall University women's swimming & diving team at the LCM Invitational on Thursday, Feb. 23, in Annapolis, Md. In the final competition of the year, Kolackovsky will compete in the 100 and 200-meter breaststroke while Ehret will swim in a 200-meter butterfly trial. Both swimmers will attempt to meet U.S. Olympic qualifying marks for the last time this year.
WOMEN'S SWIMMING PLACES 10TH AT BIG EAST MEET
The Seton Hall University women's swimming & diving team finished in 10th place at the 2012 BIG EAST Championships, held Feb. 15-18, at the Trees Pool in Pittsburgh, Pa. The Pirates tallied a team score of 82 points, finishing just four points behind Georgetown for the ninth-place spot.
THREE RELAY RECORDS FALL AT BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIPS
Three Seton Hall University women's relay records fell at the 2012 BIG EAST Championships. Junior Andrea Shuba, sophomore Kerrie Kolackovsky, sophomore Kelly Markwell and senior Rose Virgilio set a new school record in the 200-medley relay (1:45.23). Junior Marielle O'Connor, Kolackovsky, Markwell and Virgilio teamed to set a new 400-medley relay record (3:50.66) while Virgilio, Markwell, junior Alie Zelenky and O'Connor set a new all-time mark in the 200-free relay (1:37.19).
PIRATES HAVE 16 WITH BIG EAST QUALIFYING TIMES
The Seton Hall women's swimming and diving team has had 16 of 17 swimmers submit 2012 BIG EAST Championship qualifying performances. Of the BIG EAST qualifiers 15 posted automatic conference championship marks. Junior Andrea Shuba and sophomores Jane Ehret and Kerrie Kolackovsky lead the way with six auto BIG EAST times apiece.
KARL AND RILEY COMPETE AT BIG EAST DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Senior Kaitlyn Karl and sophomore Katie Riley competed at the 2012 BIG EAST Diving Championships, held Feb. 10-12, at the Trees Pool in Pittsburgh, Pa. Karl finished in 32nd place in the one-meter springboard prelims, while Riley placed 25th in the one-meter. Riley also finished 18th in the three-meter springboard (201.35) and seventh in the platform (153.60).
PIRATES LOSE AT MARIST IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE
The Seton Hall women's swimming & diving team lost at Marist College, 122-176, in its regular season dual meet finale on Saturday, Jan. 28, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Pirates finished the year with a 6-5 record in head-to-head competition. Sophomore Jane Ehret finished first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:06.71 and senior Rose Virgilio won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.08.
EHRET AND KOLACKOVSKY COMPETE AT WINTER NATIONALS
SHU sophomore Jane Ehret and Kerrie Kolackovsky competed at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals, held Dec. 1-3, in Atlanta, Ga. Ehret swam the 400-meter individual medley (5:06.36) and the 200-meter butterfly (2:19.57), while Kolackovsky posted a time of 2:41.04 in the 200-meter breaststroke preliminaries.SETON HALL HONORS SIX SENIORS
Prior to the meet against the University of Connecticut on Jan. 21, the Seton Hall women's swimming & diving team honored its six members of the Class of 2012: Amy Bonistalli, Kaitlyn Karl, Marilyn Purvis, Megan Rathbun, Kaley Swider and Rose Virgilio.
SETON HALL FALLS TO VILLANOVA AND CONNECTICUT
In its first competition of the spring semester the SHU women's swimming & diving team fell to Villanova University (104-190) and the University of Connecticut (110-190). Sophomore Jane Ehret won the 200-butterly and senior Rose Virgilio picked up a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle against Villanova. Ehret went on to win three races against Connecticut (100-Fly, 200-Fly, 200-IM) and junior Andrea Shuba placed first in the 200-Backstroke.
BROKEN RECORDS
Junior Andrea Shuba and sophomore Kerrie Kolackovsky each set a new school record at the Patriot Invitational. Shuba broke her own record in the 100-yard backstroke, posting a time of 57.87, which eclipsed the old record of 58.12 she set just last season. Kolackovsky's race-winning time of 16:55.80 improved on the old SHU all-time best of 16:57.13, set by Michelle Ducharme in 2006.
KOLACKOVSKY HONORED BY BIG EAST
Sophomore Kerrie Kolackovsky was named the BIG EAST Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week on Nov. 22, for her role in leading the Pirates to a fourth-place finish at the Patriot Invitational. She won the 1,650-yard freestyle with a school-record breaking time of 16:55.80 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:20.48. Kolackovsky also posted season-best times in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.31), the 500-yard freestyle (5:01.64) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.50), and finished with a total of five 2012 BIG EAST Championship automatic qualifying times.
PIRATES FINISH FOURTH AT PATRIOT INVITATIONAL
The Seton Hall University women's swimming & diving team finished in fourth place at the 2011 Patriot Invitational, held Nov. 17-19, in Fairfax, Va. The Pirates accumulated 483.5 points over three days to secure fourth in the standings. SHU picked up a pair of first-place finishes on the final day with junior Kerrie Kolackovsky winning the 1,650-yard freestyle (16:55.80) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.48). Junior Andrea Shuba broke the school record in the 100-yard backstroke (57.87) and as a team the Pirates posted 44 2012 BIG EAST Championship automatic qualifying times.
SHU WELCOMES THREE NEWCOMERS FOR 2011-12
The Seton Hall women's swimming & diving team welcomed three fresh faces to the team for the 2011-12 campaign. Freshman Sarah Dougherty (Waterford, N.Y.), freshman Samantha Granan (Hyde Park, N.Y.) and freshman Megan Mostoller (Cheshire, Conn.).
