PIRATES SET FOR REGULAR SEASON FINALE AT MARIST
The Seton Hall University women's swimming & diving team will compete in its final regular season competition of the year as it heads to Marist College for a dual meet on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m. The Pirates are 6-4 in head-to-head contests so far this year and will look to snap a two-meet losing streak when they face the Red Foxes.

SETON HALL FALLS TO VILLANOVA AND CONNECTICUT
In its first competition of the spring semester the SHU women's swimming & diving team fell to Villanova University (104-190) and the University of Connecticut (110-190) last week in South Orange, N.J. Sophomore Jane Ehret won the 200-butterly and senior Rose Virgilio picked up a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle against Villanova. Ehret went on to win three races against Connecticut (100-Fly, 200-Fly, 200-IM) and junior Andrea Shuba placed first in the 200-Backstroke.

RATHBUN AND SHUBA POST BIG EAST ‘A' CUTS
Senior Megan Rathbun and junior Andrea Shuba each posted an automatic 2012 BIG EAST Championship qualifying time during last week's competition. Shuba swam a time of 4:42.16 in the 400-yard individual medley, increasing her tally to six BIG EAST ‘A' cuts for the season. Rathbun posted a time of 18:00.78 in the 1,650-yard freestyle against Connecticut on Jan. 21, missing her personal record in the mile by just 2.06 seconds.

SETON HALL HONORS SIX SENIORS
Prior to the meet against the University of Connecticut on Jan. 21, the Seton Hall women's swimming & diving team honored its six members of the Class of 2012: Amy Bonistalli, Kaitlyn Karl, Marilyn Purvis, Megan Rathbun, Kaley Swider and Rose Virgilio.

SHU IMPROVES TO 6-2 WITH WIN OVER MONTCLAIR STATE
Seton Hall picked up a 125.5-70.5 win over Montclair State on Dec. 5, to improve to 6-2 in dual meets during the fall semester. The Pirates won eight of the 11 swimming events and dominated in freestyle races with five first-place finishes. Sophomore Kate Dwyer won the 100-yard freestyle (57.26) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.46) while sophomore Jane Ehret finished first in the 500-yard free (5:36.01) and the 1,000-yard free (10:59.33).

EHRET AND KOLACKOVSKY COMPETE AT WINTER NATIONALS
SHU sophomore Jane Ehret and Kerrie Kolackovsky competed at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals, held Dec. 1-3, in Atlanta, Ga. Ehret swam the 400-meter individual medley (5:06.36) and the 200-meter butterfly (2:19.57), while Kolackovsky posted a time of 2:41.04 in the 200-meter breaststroke preliminaries.

A LOOK AHEAD ...
Seton Hall will head to Pittsburgh, Pa., for the 2012 BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championships. The Diving championships will be held Friday-Sunday, Feb. 10-12, with the swimming championships to follow Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 15-18.

BROKEN RECORDS
Junior Andrea Shuba and sophomore Kerrie Kolackovsky each set a new school record at the Patriot Invitational. Shuba broke her own record in the 100-yard backstroke, posting a time of 57.87, which eclipsed the old record of 58.12 she set just last season. Kolackovsky’s race-winning time of 16:55.80 improved on the old SHU all-time best of 16:57.13, set by Michelle Ducharme in 2006.

KOLACKOVSKY HONORED BY BIG EAST
Sophomore Kerrie Kolackovsky was named the BIG EAST Women’s Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week on Nov. 22, for her role in leading the Pirates to a fourth-place finish at the Patriot Invitational. She won the 1,650-yard freestyle with a school-record breaking time of 16:55.80 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:20.48.  Kolackovsky also posted season-best times in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.31), the 500-yard freestyle (5:01.64) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.50), and finished with a total of five 2012 BIG EAST Championship automatic qualifying times.

PIRATES FINISH FOURTH AT PATRIOT INVITATIONAL
The Seton Hall University women’s swimming & diving team finished in fourth place at the 2011 Patriot Invitational, held Nov. 17-19, in Fairfax, Va. The Pirates accumulated 483.5 points over three days to secure fourth in the standings. SHU picked up a pair of first-place finishes on the final day with junior Kerrie Kolackovsky winning the 1,650-yard freestyle (16:55.80) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.48). Junior Andrea Shuba broke the school record in the 100-yard backstroke (57.87) and as a team the Pirates posted 44 2012 BIG EAST Championship automatic qualifying times.

SHU WELCOMES THREE NEWCOMERS FOR 2011-12
The Seton Hall women’s swimming & diving team welcomed three fresh faces to the team for the 2011-12 campaign. Freshman Sarah Dougherty (Waterford, N.Y.), freshman Samantha Granan (Hyde Park, N.Y.) and freshman Megan Mostoller (Cheshire, Conn.).

PIRATES HAVE 17 WITH BIG EAST QUALIFYING TIMES
Heading into this week’s competition the Seton Hall women’s swimming and diving team has seen 17 of 20 student-athletes submit 2012 BIG EAST Championship qualifying performances. Of the BIG EAST qualifiers 16 have posted automatic conference championship marks. Junior Andrea Shuba and sophomores Jane Ehret and Kerrie Kolackovsky lead the way with six auto BIG EAST times apiece.

PITTSBURGH TO HOST 2012 BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIPS
The University of Pittsburgh will host the 2012 BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championships at the Trees Pool in Pittsburgh, Pa. The conference diving championships will take place Friday-Sunday, Feb. 10-12, with the swimming championships scheduled for Wednesday-Saturday, Nov. 15-18. The Seton Hall women’s swimming and diving team finished ninth at last year’s BIG EAST meet, its highest finish since 2005.
