SETON HALL CLOSES SEASON AT MARIST
The men's swimming and diving team will wrap up their regular season schedule on Jan. 28 when they travel to take on the Marist Red Foxes. The men's squad has defeated Marist in three of the last four meetings. Last season, the Pirates cruised to a 182.5-108.5 home win over Marist. Four Pirates recorded multiple individual victories that day.

PIRATES TAME WILDCATS
In their first appearance in the pool in 2012, Seton Hall defeated the visiting Villanova Wildcats 159-137 to earn their eighth dual meet victory of the year. The Pirates took the top spot in 10 of 16 events during the meet. Junior Austin Acheson recorded three individual victories and freshman James Logan added two of his own.

HALL FALLS TO HUSKIES
SHU suffered just its second dual meet defeat of the season on Jan. 21 as the Connecticut Huskies left South Orange with a 187-111 victory. Acheson again lead the way with two first-place finishes, winning both the 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle events. The other Pirate victory came when O'Shaughnessy posted the top time in the 200-yard individual medley.

AWESOME AUSTIN
For his efforts last week, the BIG EAST Conference tabbed Austin Acheson as the Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week on Jan. 24. Acheson picked up five victories in two meets to earn the award for the first time. Acheson is the second Pirate to receive the honor this season. Sophomore Richard Dunham was named BIG EAST Best of the Week on Nov. 1.

PIRATES' CREW OF QUALIFIERS
To this point in the season, 16 of 18 members of the SHU men's team have posted an automatic qualifying time for the BIG EAST Championships. Leading the way is sophomore Austin Acheson who has automatically qualified for seven events. He is followed by junior Ryan O'Shaughnessy and sophomore Richard Dunham who have punched six tickets of their own. From the diving board, freshman Ben Mitchell has surpassed qualifying standards from both one and three meter distances.

2011-12 BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2011-12 BIG EAST Championships will be held at Trees Pool on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. The diving session will take place Feb. 10-12, with swimming events taking place Feb. 15-18. The Cardinals of Louisville are the defending champions on both the men's and women's side. The Seton Hall men's team will be looking to improve their overall finish for the third straight year.
