PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomore Alyssa Warren (Joliet, Ill.) was named BIG EAST Player of the Week after guiding the Seton Hall volleyball team to a 3-1 mark last week. Warren becomes the first player in program history to earn the honor.
Warren averaged 6.93 digs per set for Seton Hall as the Pirates went 2-1 at the Seton Hall Invitational. She started the week with a 22-dig performance and set a career-high with five aces in a win over Hofstra on Sep. 13. Warren set a school record with 45 digs in a five-set victory over Boston College, breaking the old mark of 41, a record that stood for 21 years. She was named to the Seton Hall Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Pittsburgh's Lindsey Zitzke was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for her play at the Pitt Blue and Gold Invitational.
The Pirates are back in action on Tuesday, September 20, at Princeton. Match-time is set for 7:00 p.m.
