HUMACAO, PUERTO RICO - The Seton Hall men's golf team opened up the 2010 spring season Monday at the Palmas Del Mar Intercollegiate in Humacao, Puerto Rico. The Pirates are currently in seventh place following their round one 16-over-par, 304.
USC Upstate is the current team leader after an astonishing 9-under-par, 279, in the first round. The performance has them 15 strokes ahead of the second place team, Rollins.
Freshman Brandon Park (Weston, Fla.) is leading the way for the Pirates and is currently tied for third among all individual golfers following a 2-under-par, 70. USC Upstate's Josh Gallman leads all individuals with a 4-under-par, 68.
The only other BIG EAST school competing in the tournament is St. John's. The Red Storm are currently one stroke better than the Pirates in sixth place.

Sophomore Troy Spencer (High Point, N.C.) and junior Borja Faixat (Barcelona, Spain) are currently tied for 19th among all individual golfers following their 3-over-par, 75, on Monday.
Senior David Sampson (Warren, R.I.) and junior Colin Van Es (Granger, Ind.) had rough rounds, shooting a 12-over-par, 84, and a 14-over-par, 86, respectively.
The tournament's second round is scheduled to tee off Tuesday morning.
