One of the greatest players in program history, Allie Matters returns to Seton Hall in her first year as an assistant coach on Allison Yaeger's staff.

Matters will be responsible for recruiting, scouting, organizing team practice, coordinating travel, and will serve as director of the program's summer camps.

The former standout libero returns to South Orange after spending the past two seasons at Canisius. Matters was initially brought to the Griffs as a graduate assistant before being elevated to a full-time assistant coach in 2011.

Matters played from 2006-09, racking up numerous records and leading Seton Hall to its first BIG EAST Championship appearance in 15 years as a senior. She spent her first two seasons playing outside-hitter (and led the team in kills and attacks in both years)before moving to her natural libero position.

A two-time All-BIG EAST Second-Team selection, Matters recorded double-digit digs in the final 68 matches of her career with the Pirates - the nation's longest active streak at the end of the 2009 season. She currently holds the Seton Hall single-season (614 set in 2009) and career dig marks (1,945). Matters was named Seton Hall Overall Co-Female Athlete of the Year after the 2008 season and the Seton Hall Freshman Female Athlete of the Year the 2006 season.
