PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The BIG EAST announced their 2006-07 All-Conference Teams on Monday with Seton Hall junior Brian Laing (Bronx, N.Y.) being named All-Second Team and freshman Eugene Harvey (Brooklyn, N.Y.) as a unanimous selection to the All-Rookie Team.

A tri-captain, Laing finished the 2006-07 season with a flourish, scoring a career-high 29 points at Louisville on March 4.  For the season, the 6-foot-5 forward averaged 16.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.  He was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll three times and was a member of the B.Y.U. Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team.  A starter in all 29 games, Laing recorded all six of his career double-doubles this season and proved to be a vital cog on the floor for the Pirates, averaging a conference second-best 36.28 minutes per game.

One of the conference’s marquee freshmen, Harvey is one of only three of the 11-member All-Rookie Team to be a unanimous selection.  A starter in all 29 games for the Pirates, he averaged in double-figures in 27 of the team’s 29 games.  For the season, Harvey averaged 16.5 points, 4.2 assists and 1.72 steals per game, totals that rank him in the conference’s top-12 in all three categories.  He led all conference rookies in scoring and was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week three times.

Their 16.5 points per game tied Laing and Harvey for fifth in scoring in the final conference rankings.
