Booker Named Women's Basketball BIG EAST Rookie of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Seton Hall’s Ashley Booker (Oceanside, Calif.) was named the women’s basketball BIG EAST Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Booker, the starting point guard for the Pirates, led Seton Hall to a 66-52 victory over Providence on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Seton Hall swept the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors, as freshman Eugene Harvey earned the honors for the second week in a row on the men’s side.

 

Booker scored 14 points en route to the victory on Tuesday evening for the Pirates first BIG EAST win of the season. She shot 7-of-11 from the field. In addition, Booker added five steals and three rebounds in the win. Booker has helped the Pirates to a 6-3 overall record and a 1-0 mark in BIG EAST play.

 

DePaul’s Allie Quigley was named the BIG EAST player of the week after scoring 37 points against Rutgers on Dec. 7.

 

Seton Hall will next host Coppin State on Thursday, Dec. 21 at 12:30 p.m.
