On Monday, April 30, 2012, the first ever Pirate Blue Donor Matching Day was held in conjunction with the 30 for 30 early renewal season ticket incentives program. All donations made via the Pirate Blue website were generously matched at 30% by Country Club Services.
In total over 185 alumni, parents and fans donated to Pirate Blue on Monday totaling $32,975. Including the Country Club Services match, $42,850 was raised for the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund. This represents a record setting day for the number of gifts and dollar amount received via the web on a single day to Pirate Blue.
"We are so grateful for the generosity from our friends at Country Club Services and the outpouring of support from the Seton Hall community" said Patrick Lyons, Athletic Director. "Funding challenges are a reality and the importance of cultivating new donors and growing our current support is more important now than ever."
In addition to alumni and fans, many University employees also contributed to the cause, including the majority of athletic department staff members. "I am extremely proud of the members of our department who answered the call to support our student-athletes, especially Coach Willard and Coach Donovan who spearheaded the efforts with two of the largest gifts of the day. Private support is needed to fund a top tier athletic program; the personal commitment of resources from our staff and coaches demonstrates the investment each member has in our student-athletes."
Pirate Blue would also like to thank Country Club Services and all of the Donor Matching Day contributors for their help in making this initiative a huge success.
