ORLANDO, FLA. - Senior Troy Spencer (High Point, N.C.) fired a 1-over-par, 73, in round two of the 2012 BIG EAST Championship to pace the Seton Hall men's golf team to a seventh place standing after day two at Reunion Resort.
Spencer's performance was the best of the day for the Pirates. The senior leader shaved four strokes off his first round score and is currently tied for 28th overall with a 6-over-par, 77-73-150.
Collectively, the Pirates shot a 12-over-par, 300, and currently stand in seventh place among the 12 BIG EAST schools. Seton Hall was five shots worse in round two and enters Tuesday's final round at 19-over-par, with a 295-300-595. Notre Dame has separated itself from the pack and is the only school under par for the tournament. Notre Dame leads the field at 6-under-par, while Louisville is second at 1-over-par.
Seton Hall is only four strokes behind Connecticut and Georgetown, which are tied for fifth place.
Hosted by USF, the 33rd annual championship will be held on the Resort's Watson Course. Highlighted by fast, firm and wide rolling fairways, a variety of strategically placed bunkers and large greens, the 7,257 yard, par 72 Watson Course, a Signature Design by Tom Watson, is as much about strategy as it is about length.
