SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Seton Hall University’s Pirate Blue Athletic Fund achieved another record-breaking year: As of June 30, 2008, Pirate Blue FY08 fundraising surpassed its $1 million goal for the year.
“All of our loyal donors, alumni and supporters are the hallmark to Seton Hall University and our athletic tradition,” says Pirate Blue director Bryan Felt. “I am truly excited about our recent success and the direction in which Pirate Blue is heading.”
With the more than $1 million raised this year, Pirate Blue will be able to provide direct financial support to student athletes, individual sports and other major athletics projects.
“The investment of our Pirate Blue members will help us compete at the highest level, but more importantly, it will provide the resources necessary to graduate the finest student athletes,” says Joe Quinlan, director of athletics and recreational services. “It is a great tribute to our students, coaches, administrative staff, and especially the leadership of the Pirate Blue staff that this significant milestone has been achieved.”
Pirate Blue was founded in 1985 by the late Richard J. “Richie” Regan ’53/M.A. ’67, legendary Seton Hall basketball player, head coach and administrator. Pirate Blue supporters, known as “the team behind the team,” play a key role in the continuing advancement of Seton Hall’s long and distinguished athletics history.
