NEWARK, N.J. - The Seton Hall men's basketball team suffered its fourth straight defeat after an 89-64 setback to Marquette. The Pirates fell to 15-10 overall and 5-7 in the BIG EAST, while the Golden Eagles improved to 17-6 and 7-5 in the conference.

Sophomore Eugene Harvey (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 14 points, pulled down six rebounds, and had three steals. Senior Brian Laing (Bronx, N.Y.) had 17 points and went 9-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Marquette started the game on a 21-4 run which spanned until the 8:25 mark in the half, and went ahead by 20 on a Dominic James three-pointer with 5:06 until the break. Seton Hall closed the period on an 8-3 spurt, but still trailed 40-22 heading into the locker room.

Freshman Jeremy Hazell (Harlem, N.Y.) knocked down a trey to cut it the deficit to 46-30 with 16:48, but that was the closest the Pirates came as the Golden Eagles coasted to the victory.

Lazar Hayward led all scorers with 23 points, while grabbing nine boards. Jerel McNeal and Wesley Matthews scored 14 points, apiece for Marquette.

Seton Hall looks to snap their skid on Saturday, February 16, when they pay a visit to West Virginia. Game-time is set for 2:00 p.m.
