SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Sophomore Eugene Harvey (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tallied 20 points and senior Brian Laing (Bronx, N.Y.) added 14 as Seton Hall defeated Princeton, 65-55, Wednesday evening at Jadwin Gym in Princeton.  With the win, the Pirates improved to 6-0 for the first time since the 1988-89 season when they won their first 13 games en route to a Final Four appearance.

The Pirates did most of their damage late in the first half as they closed the frame on a 8-0 run in the final 3:36, to send them into the locker room with a 31-21.  In the half, the Pirates shot 56% (14-of-25) from the floor to Princeton’s 45% (9-of 20) and were led by Laing who scored 12 of his 14 points.

During his halftime speech to his team, Pirates head coach Bobby Gonzalez announced the birth of his first child, Brooke Kimberly Gonzalez, who was brought into the world Wednesday morning at 11:41 am.

Following halftime, both teams played an even second half scoring 34 points apiece.  Harvey was too much for Princeton to handle as he netted 14 of his 20 points in the second frame on 4-for-4 shooting.  Princeton's three-point shooting prevented a Seton Hall rout.

The Tigers were led by Zach Finley scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds for his first career double-double.  With the loss, Princeton falls to 2-4 on the season.

For the game, Seton Hall shot 72.2% (13-of-18) from the free throw line, while Princeton shot 50% (3-of-6).

The Pirates out-rebounded the Tigers, 29-27, and caused 14 turnovers.

The Pirates take their 6-0 record to Moraga, Calif. where they will take on St. Mary’s on Saturday, December 1.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm eastern standard time.
