NEW YORK, N.Y. - Luke Harangody had 20 points and 10 rebounds in a healthy performance off the bench, and Notre Dame shut down Seton Hall's high-octane offense for a 68-56 victory in the second round of the Big East tournament Wednesday night.

Sophomore Herb Pope (Aliquippa, Pa.) led the Pirates with 14 points and nine rebounds.  Junior Jeremy Hazell (Harlem, N.Y.) and senior Eugene Harvey (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also scored in double-figures for Seton Hall with 15 and 10 points respectively.

Tory Jackson added 13 points and six assists for the Fighting Irish (22-10) in a game with significant NCAA tournament implications. Notre Dame, riding a five-game winning streak, plays second-seeded and No. 16 Pittsburgh in the quarterfinals Thursday night.

Seton Hall will wait until Sunday to find out if they will make the NCAA Tournament or settle for an NIT bid, which would be a first in the Bobby Gonzalez era.

The seventh-seeded Fighting Irish improved to 6-14 in the Big East tournament and ended a three-game winning streak for No. 10 seed Seton Hall (19-12).

Harangody, the nation's second-leading scorer, missed five games with a badly bruised right knee before returning to play 11 minutes Saturday at Marquette. But he looked more like himself in this one.
