Herb Pope Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Seton Hall sophomore Herb Pope (Aliquippa, Pa.) was named to the BIG EAST Conference Men's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. 

 

Pope averaged 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in a pair of Seton Hall victories last week.  Pope picked up his fourth straight double-double including a career-high 22 points last Monday in a 95-53 victory over NJIT.  He also grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked five shots.  On Thursday, Pope scored seven points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Seton Hall's 89-56 win over Hartford.  For the season, the 6-foot-8 power forward is averaging a double-double with 13.3 points and 11.2 rebounds.

 

Also earning weekly honors, Villanova's Scottie Reynolds was named BIG EAST Player of the Week, while Syracuse's Brandon Triche was named Rookie of the Week.  Those joining Pope on the Weekly Honor Roll include: Greg Monroe of Georgetown, Tim Abromaitis of Notre Dame, Gregory Echenique of Rutgers and D.J. Kennedy of St. John's.

 

Pope and the rest of the Pirates will return to action tonight when they host UMass at Prudential Center.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
